Lebanon exports two things reliably: people, and the food they refuse to live without. Every name on this list began with one room here and now has a queue outside a branch in a city where nobody pronounces it correctly. Dubai, London, Paris, Riyadh, and further out than that.
What travelled is more interesting than the fact that it did. Some exported the occasion: the long mezze, the set procession, the room built to feel like a private house. Others exported the opposite. A sandwich, a steak and fries, a tawouk with garlic sauce. Formats so ordinary at home that nobody thought of them as a concept until someone abroad paid for one. Both worked, which says something about how well Lebanese food travels in either register.
