A plat du jour is a promise: whatever the kitchen bought that morning, cooked the way it is meant to be cooked, priced for a Tuesday. It is the most honest thing on any menu and the hardest to fake. There is nowhere to hide behind a garnish when the same people eat it every week.
It is also the part of Lebanese restaurant culture that is quietly disappearing. A printed menu is easier to run: the same dishes, the same order sheet, the same margins. A daily dish means someone has to go to the market, decide, and then cook something they cannot fall back on. Most places have stopped bothering. The ones that have not tend to be the ones where the kitchen still has an opinion.
These six keep the habit. Some write it on a board by the door, some tell you at the table, and one changes it so quietly you have to ask. All of them are worth the ask, and in most cases it will be the best thing you eat there.
